Spring/Summer 2023includes an article:Yvonne Skargon: illustrator and designer by Jim Maslen
Yvonne Skargon was an illustrator and designer of books, much of whose work was unacknowledged at the time and whose career was unrecorded until recently.
Apart from anything else she designed over 400 dust-jackets (the image here is of her cover for the catalogue of the British Council Exhibition for the Bienal de São Paulo in 1959).
She illustrated the cookery books of Jane Grigson with line-drawings, and designed popular gift books illustrated with wood-engravings of her cats.
She is perhaps best known for her wood-engravings, especially the independent prints, many of which are illustrated here.
