“Essential reading for the book collector”
Books
The Private Libraries Association publishes monographs on specialised aspects of bibliophilia, with several generally in print and available.
Our publications include books on artists and illustrators, private presses and printing, book-binding, restoration, and reflections on book collecting.
Members receive one free book every two to three years and can purchase others at the members’ discount.
The Private Library Quarterly Journal
The Association has published its quarterly journal, The Private Library, since 1957. It is currently in the seventh series. It includes well illustrated, substantial essays on the work of private presses and illustrators, book restoration, members' libraries and specialised collections.
Reviews of new books and notes on recent private press books are also a feature of The Private Library. The first series is out of print but available freely to download
HERE.
All other back issues are available to purchase, either individually or in a series. Members receive the current journal and receive a discount on the purchase of hard-copy back issues.
